The route
Waymarked trails loop through the woods to the estuary hides and back. Undulating with boardwalk over the wet ground.
Worth knowing
- Pied flycatchers, redstarts and wood warblers in the oaks from late April.
- Greenland white-fronted geese winter on the estuary, a flock found nowhere else in Wales.
- The reserve hosted Springwatch for several years, which tells you something about the density of wildlife.

Sessile oak woodland, saltmarsh and estuary hides, and the Dyfi with Cadair Idris beyond.
Background
The reserve was established in 1969 and covers the transition from oak hillside down to tidal saltmarsh in a single site.
