The route
The Wye Valley Walk follows the river south from Rhayader through Llanwrthwl and Newbridge. Undulating riverside walking.
Worth knowing
- The Wye Valley Walk runs 136 miles from Chepstow to the source on Pumlumon.
- Red kites are constant; Rhayader has a feeding station a mile out of town.
- The bus between the towns makes the one-way version possible.

Background
The upper Wye was a salmon river of some fame and the tradition of coracle and net fishing persisted into the twentieth century.
