The route
From the beach, the coast path climbs round the headland and returns by field paths through the farmland. Undulating.
Worth knowing
- Thorn Island fort offshore was one of a ring built to defend the haven and is now derelict.
- The rock pools at low tide are exceptional; bring a bucket.
- The oil terminals across the water are part of the view and hard to ignore.
