The route
Gentle enough throughout. Paths follow the Usk from the town bridge and loop back through farmland. Flat with one gentle climb to the castle.

- The castle is privately owned but opens to visitors on most days in season.
- Usk was the Roman fort of Burrium before Caerleon was built.
- The town wins Wales in Bloom so often it is practically a fixture.
