The route
Walk the promenade and beach north to the Broad Water, returning by the field paths and the lane. Flat throughout.
Worth knowing
- The Broad Water is a tidal lagoon and holds good numbers of waders and wildfowl.
- The Talyllyn Railway starts in Tywyn and was the first preserved railway in the world.
- St Cadfan’s Stone in the church carries the oldest known written Welsh.

Background
The Talyllyn was saved by volunteers in 1951, the first railway preservation scheme anywhere, and still runs to Abergynolwyn.
