The route
From the harbour, take the coast path north above North Beach towards Waterwynch and Monkstone Point, returning along the sand at low tide or by the same path.
Worth knowing
- Tenby’s town walls are among the best preserved in Wales and the Five Arches gate is still the way in.
- Boats run from the harbour to Caldey Island, where the monastery is still working.
- North Beach at low tide gives an easier return than the clifftop.

Background
Tenby was walled in the thirteenth century and the walls were strengthened against the Armada. The fort on St Catherine’s Island is Victorian.
