The route

Tracks and paths link the pools from the road end. Loop between them and return; the ground is rough and pathless in places.

Worth knowing

  • The Teifi rises here and runs seventy miles to the sea at Cardigan.
  • Open moorland with no landmarks in cloud; compass essential.
  • The road up from Ffair Rhos is steep and narrow.

Llyn Teifi and the smaller pools, open moor, and the plateau running east.

Background

The monks of Strata Florida grazed and fished these uplands, and the old monastic tracks still cross the plateau.
