The route
Walk the beach east from the village to the lighthouse and on towards the point, returning through the dunes. Flat throughout.
Worth knowing
- The lighthouse is on the beach and reachable at low tide; check the tide before walking out to it.
- The RSPB reserve at Point of Ayr holds large numbers of waders on the estuary.
- Natterjack toads breed in the dune slacks behind the beach.
