The route
Take the coast path east or west from the lighthouse car park along the cliffs, turning back when you have had enough. The path rises and falls constantly, so the ascent adds up.
Worth knowing
- The old lookout hut by the lighthouse is a sea-watching shelter and often has people in it who know what they are looking at.
- Harbour porpoise are seen most days in settled weather; the tide race off the head concentrates them.
- Constant short climbs. Twice as tiring as the distance suggests.

Background
The last invasion of mainland Britain landed near here at Carregwastad in 1797, when a French force came ashore and surrendered within days.
