The route
Follow the coast path west from Caerfai past St Non’s chapel and well, then turn inland on field paths to return through St Davids. Steps and clifftop throughout.
Worth knowing
- The chapel ruin, the well and the modern chapel all sit within a few hundred yards of each other.
- Caerfai beach is a steep set of steps below the car park and worth the descent on a warm day.
- The cathedral in its hollow is a two-minute detour and free to enter.

Background
Tradition places David’s birth here around 500 AD. The well was a healing site through the Middle Ages and pilgrims still leave offerings.
