The route
Follow the coast path north from Whitesands round the head, then return inland past Coetan Arthur and over Carn Llidi, or simply retrace the clifftop.
Worth knowing
- Coetan Arthur is a Neolithic burial chamber sitting right beside the path, and most people walk past it.
- Carn Llidi behind gives the view of the whole peninsula for an extra twenty minutes of climb.
- Choughs breed here. The Celtic Coaster bus means you need not move the car.
What you’ll see
Burial chamber and hut circles, Ramsey Island and the Bishops and Clerks rocks, seals in the coves.
Background
St Davids is Britain’s smallest city, built round the cathedral in its hollow. The headland has been occupied since the Neolithic.
