The route
Paths cross the common and the woodland from the village, returning by field paths. Undulating with one climb.
Worth knowing
- The Rhymney Valley Ridgeway crosses here for a much longer route.
- Old iron and coal workings in the woods, mostly hidden by trees now.
- Two good pubs in the village.

Mixed woodland, open common, and the Rhymney valley from the ridge.
Background
Rudry had ironworks and small coal levels from the seventeenth century, long before the valleys boom further north.
