The route
Gentle enough throughout. Paths climb through the woods from the cathedral along the Honddu and return by the lanes. Short and gentle.
Worth knowing
- The cathedral was the priory church and its café is in the restored tithe barn.
- Llanddew a mile north has a well and the ruins of a bishop’s palace where Gerald of Wales lived.
- Bluebells through the groves in spring.

Background
Gerald of Wales was archdeacon of Brecon and lived at Llanddew, writing part of his account of Wales there.
