The route
The route follows the Lugg from the town through the meadows and return by lanes. Flat and easy with a few stiles.
Worth knowing
- The Lugg meadows are ancient hay meadows, some of the last unimproved grassland in the borders.
- Green-winged orchids in the meadows in May.
- The border runs along the river here, so half the walk is in England.
