The route
Follow the promenade west from Prestatyn towards Rhyl. Entirely flat and surfaced, with the train back.
Worth knowing
- Both towns have stations, so this is one of the easiest one-way walks in Wales.
- The Offa’s Dyke Path northern terminus is on Prestatyn seafront.
- Exposed to the wind off the Irish Sea; more layers than you expect.
What you’ll see
The beach and promenade, the Clwydian hills inland, and the Point of Ayr lighthouse east.
Background
Both towns grew as Victorian resorts once the Chester to Holyhead railway opened in 1848.
