The route
Follow the sea wall from the village in either direction. Completely flat with the estuary on one side and the levels on the other.
Worth knowing
- Two hours either side of high tide brings the waders close in; at low water they are a mile out.
- The Severn’s tidal range is the second largest in the world and it shows here.
- Very exposed. Wind off the estuary is relentless.

Background
The Wentlooge Levels were drained by the Romans and the sea wall has been maintained ever since, most recently after the 1607 flood.
