The route
The Path leaves the castle and climbs through woodland above the gorge, passing the Devil’s Pulpit before dropping to Tintern. Steep in places.
Worth knowing
- The Devil’s Pulpit viewpoint looks straight down on the abbey and is the highlight.
- The bus back from Tintern runs but is infrequent; check before committing.
- The path is in England for much of this stretch, on the eastern bank.
