The route
The North Wales Path climbs from Conwy over Sychnant and the hill ground above Penmaenmawr to Llanfairfechan. Both ends have stations.
Worth knowing
- Both towns are on the north coast line, so the one-way walk is straightforward.
- The route passes close to the Graig Lwyd axe factory, a Neolithic industrial site.
- Exposed hill ground for much of it with no shelter.
What you’ll see
Conwy and its estuary, Bronze Age remains on the hill, and the sea below the whole way.

Graig Lwyd above Penmaenmawr produced stone axes traded across Britain in the Neolithic, one of the most important such sites known.
