The route
Follow the river from the bridge through the meadows, then climb briefly to the lanes and circle back into the village. Flat for most of its length.
Worth knowing
- The meadows flood readily. After a wet week, take the lane variant instead.
- One of the better stretches for spotting kingfishers, which nest in the soft banks.
- The village pub is a proper local and does food most days.

Background
The bridge that names the village replaced a ford, and the settlement grew around the crossing and the drovers’ route it served.
