The route
The coast path runs south-west from New Quay past Cwmtydu, Llangrannog and Tresaith to Aberporth. Constant steep ascent and descent.
Worth knowing
- Genuinely tough. The repeated climbs are what get people, not the distance.
- The bus along the A487 makes the one-way version possible but check the timetable.
- Dolphins are seen along the whole stretch in settled weather.
What you’ll see
Cliff after cliff, Ynys Lochtyn, the waterfall at Tresaith, and dolphins offshore.
Background
This coast was worked by small ships trading lime and culm into every cove that would take a beaching vessel.
