The route
Climb south from the car park onto the summit and walk the circuit of the ramparts, returning by the same path or the lower track.
Worth knowing
- Larger than Moel Famau’s summit area and far quieter, for the same short climb.
- The ramparts are clearest on the northern and eastern sides.
- Heather across the top in August.

Substantial ramparts, a spring inside the fort, and the Vale of Clwyd and Dee estuary.
Background
Moel Fenlli is one of six hillforts along the Clwydian ridge. A hoard of Roman coins was found inside the ramparts in the eighteenth century.
