The route
From Cilcain, climb through the forestry and onto the open hillside, joining Offa’s Dyke Path for the final pull to the summit. Return by a different line.
Worth knowing
- Far quieter than the Bwlch Pen Barras approach for the same summit.
- The forestry sections give shelter in bad weather.
- Cilcain has a good village pub for afterwards, which the main car park does not.

Background
The Clwydian Range was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1985 and extended to include the Dee Valley in 2011.
