The route
Tracks and paths climb east out of the village and onto the ridge and up to Moel Eilio. Back the same way or continue over the ridge to Llanberis.
Worth knowing
- The Welsh Highland Railway stops at Waunfawr, which makes an unusual approach.
- Grass underfoot throughout, which is fast in good weather and featureless in cloud.
- The view of the whole Snowdon massif from the top is the best there is.

Background
Waunfawr was a quarrying and farming village and Marconi built a transatlantic wireless station on the moor above in 1914.
