The route
Climb from the town through the Plas grounds and up to the ridge, returning by lanes or the riverside. Steady rather than steep.
Worth knowing
- Owain Glyndŵr held a parliament here in 1404; the building on Maengwyn Street is open as a centre.
- The Centre for Alternative Technology is three miles north and worth a separate visit.
- Wednesday market has run since a charter of 1291.
