The route
Follow the canal towpath south-east from Brecon to Talybont. Flat and surfaced, with the Taff Trail sharing the route.
Worth knowing
- Lôn Las Cymru runs 250 miles from Cardiff or Chepstow to Holyhead.
- This is one of the flattest and most scenic sections of the whole route.
- Talybont has two good pubs and a shop at the far end.

The canal, the Usk valley, and the northern escarpment of the Bannau.
Background
The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal reached Brecon in 1800 and now carries more walkers and boaters than it ever did cargo.
