The route

Follow the surfaced path from the visitor centre along the dam and the eastern shore. Level, and turn back when it suits.

Worth knowing

  • The first stretch from the centre is surfaced and genuinely accessible.
  • The full circuit is six miles and much rougher on the far side.
  • Ospreys pass through on migration and occasionally fish here.

What you’ll see

The dam and spillway, open water, and the Preseli ridge to the north.

Background

The reservoir was completed in 1972 to supply Pembrokeshire, and the visitor centre was rebuilt in 2021.
