The route
The circuit uses the lakeside path, quiet lanes and the old railway on the southern shore. Long but with little climbing.
Worth knowing
- The gwyniad, a fish left behind after the ice age, lives here and nowhere else on earth.
- The Bala Lake Railway runs along the southern shore and can shorten the walk.
- Bala is a centre for watersports so the lake is busy in summer.

Background
Llyn Tegid is four miles long and the gwyniad has been isolated in it since the last glaciation, now threatened by introduced roach.
