The route
From the market hall, drop to the river and follow the bank, joining the waymarked national trail for a section before circling back into town. Easy and well signed.
Worth knowing
- The Old Market Hall in the middle of town is the last surviving half-timbered market hall in Wales and stands on stilts over an open ground floor.
- The Severn here is still small enough to throw a stone across.
- Llanidloes has an unusually good independent bookshop and several proper cafés.
