The route
Take field paths from the village down to the Wye and follow it before climbing back on the lanes. Gentle and unhurried.
Worth knowing
- At around 300 metres this claims to be the highest village in Wales, which is disputed but not by much.
- The church has good Victorian glass and a fine roof.
- Very quiet; you may not meet anyone at all.

Background
Llangurig sits at a junction of old routes across mid Wales, which is why a village of this size exists so high up. The church was restored in the 1870s by the Wilson family of Rhiwsaeson.
