The route
Climb out of the village and onto the common and along the ridge, returning by lanes on the eastern side. Grass underfoot throughout.
Worth knowing
- Quieter than Mynydd Troed just across the pass, for a very similar view.
- The common is open access with ponies and no fences.
- Good in the evening with the light coming across the lake.
What you’ll see
Llangorse Lake below, the Bannau escarpment to the west, and the Black Mountains ridges east.
Background
The common has been grazed under ancient rights for centuries and remains unenclosed.
