The route
Field paths climb out of town in several directions; the usual circuit heads north onto the hills, follows the ridge, and returns by lane. Plenty of stiles.
Worth knowing
- The town has an unusual brick church, which is rare in this part of Wales.
- Llanfyllin Workhouse on the edge of town is now an arts venue and worth a look.
- Good hedgerow walking with sloes and damsons in autumn.

Background
Llanfyllin received its charter in 1293 and was one of very few Welsh boroughs founded by a Welsh prince rather than an English king.
