The route

Estate paths loop through the parkland and along the river, with a longer option onto the old railway line. Gentle throughout.

Worth knowing

  • The house is a John Nash design of the 1790s and survived almost unaltered because the family made no money.
  • The home farm is still worked and the walled gardens supply the café.
  • The old Aberaeron railway formation makes a level extension.

Nash designed the villa early in his career, before the Regency work that made his name. The estate came to the National Trust in 1989.
