Where it is

The circle shows the general area, not the exact start. Use the directions link below to get to the car park itself. Contours and paths shown are OpenTopoMap, drawn from OpenStreetMap data.

The route

Paths climb from the town through the woods and follow the old railway before returning across farmland. A few steep sections.

Worth knowing

  • The old Carmarthen to Aberystwyth railway ran through here and closed in 1965.
  • Muddy in places; the clay holds water.
  • Combine with the riverside walk in the town for a longer day.

What you’ll see

Woodland and farmland, the old railway formation, and the Clettwr and Teifi valleys.

Background

The railway through the Teifi valley closed in stages from the 1960s and parts of the formation are now walkable.
