Where it is
The circle shows the general area, not the exact start. Use the directions link below to get to the car park itself. Contours and paths shown are OpenTopoMap, drawn from OpenStreetMap data.
The route
Join Glyndŵr’s Way where it passes through the village and follow it up onto the ridge, then use lanes and lower paths to bring you back round. There is a lot of gate-and-field walking between the open sections.
Worth knowing
- The church sits above the village and has a gallery at the west end, which is unusual and worth the detour.
- Nine miles with three hundred and sixty metres of climb reads easier than it walks. Allow more time than you think.
- Kites are guaranteed. There is a feeding station a few miles away and they range widely.
What you’ll see
Rolling grass hills, red kites in numbers, and long views to the Cambrian mountains in the west.
Background
Glyndŵr’s Way was designated a national trail in 2000 and runs 135 miles through some of the emptiest country in Wales. Its route traces places associated with the rising of 1400 to 1415.
