The route
The trail follows field paths and lanes north-east from Llandeilo to Llangadog. Both ends are on the railway.
Worth knowing
- The whole trail runs 141 miles alongside the Heart of Wales line, and every stage can be done by train.
- The line itself is one of the great scenic railways in Britain.
- Trains are infrequent; check the timetable before setting out.

The Tywi valley, Dinefwr and Carreg Cennen in the distance, and hedged farmland.
Background
The Heart of Wales line survived the Beeching cuts and still runs from Shrewsbury to Swansea through some of the emptiest country in Wales.
