The route
Colour-coded trails of different lengths start from the hall. The main circuit takes in the lake, the great wood and the gardens on made paths and grass.
Worth knowing
- The black-and-white hall is actually concrete, rendered and painted in the nineteenth century to look timbered.
- Rhododendron and azalea in late May and June are the estate’s set piece.
- The Gregynog Press produced some of the finest printed books in Britain here in the 1920s and 30s.

Background
The Davies sisters, granddaughters of the industrialist David Davies, ran a private press and assembled a remarkable collection of Impressionist paintings here, now in the National Museum in Cardiff.
