The route
The Way climbs from the town past the reservoir and onto the moors, reaching Dylife by way of the old mine workings. Exposed and remote.
Worth knowing
- Fourteen kilometres with very little shelter. Not a stage to start late.
- Dylife was a substantial lead mining settlement and is now a handful of buildings.
- The Star Inn at Dylife closed some years ago; do not count on refreshment at the far end.

Background
Dylife mine employed hundreds in the nineteenth century. The gibbet on the pass held a murderer hanged in irons in 1719.
