Where it is

The circle shows the general area, not the exact start. Use the directions link below to get to the car park itself. Contours and paths shown are OpenTopoMap, drawn from OpenStreetMap data.

The route

The Way crosses Moel Dod, Yr Allt and Ysgŵd-ffordd between the two villages before dropping into a wooded valley. Waymarked but remote.

Worth knowing

  • This is among the emptiest stages on any British national trail.
  • No facilities between the villages; carry everything.
  • The repeated climbs add up more than the total ascent suggests.

What you’ll see

Grassy hills one after another, hedged farmland, and long views over Radnorshire.

Background

Glyndŵr’s forces moved through these hills, which offered cover and knowledge of the ground against larger English armies.
