The route
Boardwalk paths loop through the reserve to the observatory and hides. Entirely level and surfaced.
Worth knowing
- Ospreys are present from late March to early September; outside that the reserve is quieter but still worth it.
- The 360 observatory has telescopes and volunteers who will point things out.
- Fully wheelchair accessible, which is rare for a wetland site.
What you’ll see
Ospreys fishing the estuary, the bog and its plants, and water buffalo grazing the reserve.
Background
Ospreys returned to the Dyfi in 2011 after an absence of centuries, and the site has fledged birds most years since.
