The route
Climb from the village on forest roads, following them up and round the hillside past the old workings before descending back into the valley. Waymarked mountain bike trails cross the route in places.
Worth knowing
- This is shared with mountain bikers on some sections. Listen out on the descents.
- The slate workings are extensive and the inclines are still clearly traceable.
- Corris Railway runs steam trains on some days and the museum is worth an hour.

Background
Corris quarried slate from the eighteenth century, and a narrow-gauge railway carried it down to the Dyfi for shipment. Part of the line has been restored by volunteers.
