Devil’s Bridge Falls
Three bridges stacked one on top of another over a gorge, and a staircase of a hundred steps down to a series of waterfalls. Paid entry, and worth it.

The route
The Nature Trail descends into the gorge by Jacob’s Ladder and returns up the far side. Steep, stepped and strenuous for its length. A shorter loop visits the Devil’s Punchbowl only.
Worth knowing
- Jacob’s Ladder is over a hundred steps and the climb back out is the hard part. Not one for dodgy knees.
- Both trails charge an entry fee through a turnstile.
- Arriving on the Vale of Rheidol steam railway from Aberystwyth makes a far better day of it.

Background
The lowest bridge is medieval, traditionally attributed to the monks of Strata Florida. The second was built in 1753 and the top one in 1901.
