The route
Head up from the village into the forest and to the falls, returning by a loop. Steady climbing throughout.
Worth knowing
- The falls are best after rain and reduce to little in a dry summer.
- The old railway through the valley is now a walking route towards Corwen.
- Forestry operations occasionally close tracks.

Background
The Ruabon to Barmouth railway ran through Cynwyd and closed in 1965; its formation is now a path.
