The route
Coast path north-east towards New Quay or south-west towards Llangrannog. Steep in both directions with steps.
Worth knowing
- Seal pups are in the coves from September to November. Watch from the clifftop and do not go down.
- The limekiln at the cove is well preserved and was fed by boats beaching on the shingle.
- Smugglers used this cove; the lane inland is steep and narrow for the same reason.

Background
Limestone was shipped in from Pembrokeshire and burned here for the acid Ceredigion soils, a trade that ran along the whole coast.
