The route
The Way climbs from the valley through forestry onto Craig y Llyn and follows the escarpment. Forest tracks and open moor.
Worth knowing
- Craig y Llyn at 600 metres is the highest point in the historic county of Glamorgan.
- Llyn Fawr below produced a hoard containing some of the earliest iron objects found in Britain.
- The Coed Morgannwg Way runs 36 miles from Gethin Woodland Park to Margam.
What you’ll see
Craig y Llyn’s escarpment, Llyn Fawr and Llyn Fach in their cwms, and the Vale of Neath.
Background
The Llyn Fawr hoard, found in 1911, marks the transition from bronze to iron in Britain and gave its name to a whole archaeological phase.
