The route
The route climbs steeply through the woodland from the valley floor and return by a loop. Rough and rooty throughout.
Worth knowing
- The reserve is a Special Area of Conservation for its woodland and lichens.
- Steep and slippery; boots and care in wet weather.
- The Eigiau dam disaster of 1925 sent a flood through the village below, killing sixteen people.

Background
The Eigiau dam above failed in November 1925 and the flood destroyed much of Dolgarrog, which is why the village layout looks as it does.
