Where it is

The circle shows the general area, not the exact start. Use the directions link below to get to the car park itself. Contours and paths shown are OpenTopoMap, drawn from OpenStreetMap data.

The route

Follow the coast path north from Clarach towards Wallog and Borth. Constant steep ups and downs; the ascent adds up fast.

Worth knowing

  • Far harder than the distance suggests. Several climbs of a hundred metres and more.
  • Borth at the far end has a station, so a one-way walk with the train back works well.
  • Choughs and peregrines on the cliffs along this stretch.

What you’ll see

Cliff scenery, Sarn Wallog running out to sea, and Eryri visible north when the air is clear.

Background

The cliffs here are Silurian mudstones, folded and faulted, and the coast is retreating measurably each decade.
