The route
Waymarked paths loop through the woods from the mill and along the river. Gentle throughout, muddy after rain.
Worth knowing
- Blackpool Mill is a four-storey corn mill of 1813 at the tidal limit of the river.
- The woods are ancient and support a good bat population including lesser horseshoes.
- The tide reaches the mill, so the river level changes noticeably.
