The route
A boardwalk runs out onto the bog from the reserve entrance. Level, and the surrounding ground is genuinely impassable.
Worth knowing
- Access to parts of the bog is by permit; the boardwalk section is open.
- The bog surface is domed and wetter in the middle than at the edges, which is what makes it raised.
- Rosy marsh moth, thought extinct in Britain, was rediscovered here in 1965.
