The route
Steep lanes climb out of the town to the panorama viewpoint, with a loop back down through the hillside cottages. Short but sharply uphill at the start.
Worth knowing
- The National Trust’s first ever property, Dinas Oleu, is the hillside immediately above the town, given in 1895.
- The walk up through the old town alleys is part of the interest.
- Combine with the Mawddach Trail across the bridge for a full day.

Background
Dinas Oleu, four and a half acres of gorse-covered hillside, was the first land ever acquired by the National Trust.
