The route
Climb from Trefechan onto the hill and walk the ramparts, returning by the Ystwyth or the harbour. Short and steep at the start.
Worth knowing
- The column on top was meant to carry a statue of Wellington, which was never made.
- The fort has two enclosures joined by a rampart and is substantial.
- Ten minutes from the town centre and almost nobody up there.
